You narrow features down by role or person if you want to; you never pay to unlock them. AI allowances (Cold Start, Scholar AI, Surveyor and the rest) follow each member’s own personal Folio plan, not the institution tier — institution-wide AI allocation is planned, not shipped yet.

Questions
Why is standalone priced publicly but the others aren’t?
Standalone and extracurricular programs tend to be a similar shape and size, so we can publish one honest number. Schools, districts and universities vary enormously in scale and what they need to migrate, so those are quoted per institution — no per-seat math, still scaled to your size.
What does “up to ~100 active students” mean on the standalone plan?
It’s a soft guide, not a hard meter — there’s no automatic cutoff. If you grow past ~100 mid-term, the program keeps running as-is through the end of that term; from the next term on, we move you off the standalone price to a straightforward per-institution quote. We’ll never cut off your students mid-term.
Is there a free way to try it?
Yes. Instructors can use Folio Classroom for individual courses at no cost, and we can stand up a pilot subdomain for your department so you can evaluate the full institution experience before you commit.
Do you offer invoicing and purchase orders?
Yes. Institutional agreements are handled directly, on invoice, with the terms your procurement process needs.
What about students who already use Folio?
Their personal account and their institution membership are one identity in two contexts. Nothing they’ve written personally is exposed to the institution, and vice versa. Their AI usage allowances — Cold Start, Scholar AI, and the rest — still come from their own personal Folio plan, not from the institution tier; a student on Scholar is on Scholar’s AI meters inside your subdomain too, until institution-wide AI allocation ships.
