While established battery chemistries and cell architectures for Li-ion batteries achieve good power and energy density, LIBs are unlikely to meet all the performance, cost, and scaling targets required for energy storage, in particular, in large-scale applications such as electrified transportation and grids.     Norway has become a global forerunner in the field of electromobility and the BEV market share is far higher than in any other country. One likely reason for this is strong incentives for promoting purchase and ownership of BEVs. The purpose of this study is to describe the role of incentives for promoting BEVs, and to determine what incentives are critical for deciding to buy a BEV and what groups of buyers respond to different types of incentives.     While previous research has emphasized climate change concern as a driver of battery electric vehicle (BEV) adoption, concerns about the personal health impacts of air pollution caused by internal combustion vehicles—such as respiratory and cardiovascular diseases—have been neglected as behavioral triggers.     CALSTART’s E-Truck Task Force (ETTF) produced a report outlining the markets for electric drive trucks (E-Trucks), the prime barriers facing their success and provided key findings and recommendations to support expanding E-Truck adoption. Four key findings have been identified by the E-Truck Task Force as barriers currently affecting the growth and viability of E-Truck sales; 1) high incremental cost, 2) poor vehicle quality and support from supplier(s), 3) unexpected costs and energy planning with infrastructure, and 4) reduced operation in extreme climates. The E-Truck Task Force developed a set of action-oriented recommendations for overcoming each barrier.
